is 2012 the year of image comics? Wednesday, Feb 29 2012

Image comics has always been about creator rights and and the Need For New Ideas Instead Of Rebooting Old Ones. image has always been kind of a company to watch for years. I think 2012 will be the first year you should really watch what image comics does this year in many years. its original ideas this year will lead new grounds for creative changes in comics forever.   kirkman’s sky-bound line alone will be a bold sea change for him and images comics and comics in a huge way.  the first bold new idea is Thief of Thieves. Thief of Thieves” is the new heist comic created by Robert Kirkman to bring the television Writer’s Room concept to comics. it is interesting new take on comics 101 writing. you can figure out the medium is changing and growing huge time.  two old series form beginning of image have returned too. they have returned in a bold new forms for each of them.  Thief of Thieves” is the new heist comic created by Robert Kirkman to bring the television Writer’s Room concept to comics. glory has returned along with Prophet they both are doing new bold new ideas.   One series is REBEL BLOOD, which is described as a romance/zombie series in which a park ranger must battle past zombie people and animals to save his beloved wife. Tim Daniel will write ENORMOUS, a series in which giant monsters literally rule the world. Kurtis J. Wiebe seems to be a one man writing factory for SHADOWLINE, as he helms three titles for the imprint. The one which has already begun is PETER PANZERFAUST, which features Peter Pan and the Lost Boys battling the Nazi in WWII era France, which is drawn by Tyler Jenkins. Wiebe’s second title is GRIM LEAPER, about two lovers who are destined to die and be reincarnated in different bodies, and thus have to seek each other out again. His third is DEBRIS, which was described as “Red Sonja versus the Transformers”. Joshua Williamson also promoted his series XENOHOLICS, a series about a support group for people who were abducted by aliens. Finally, HARVEST is about the black market business of rich elites buying organs from unsuspecting people around the world, only the twist is that this series features people seeking to get those organs back. you have bold ideas here. i think many will say these ideas are all basic ideas of each book. they have many others too. Bedlam is a bold new idea form Nick Spencer and artist Riley Rossmo. Madder Red is a homicidal maniac and criminal overlord in the city of Bedlam until he is finally brought to justice after his worst attack on the city ever,” Spencer explained of the series. “After his trial, he is found insane and sent to an institution wherein he undergoes experimental treatments that cure him of his mania. After a few years of close supervision and testing, he is released. He’s undeniably cured – no longer ill and no longer a thread to society. So he’s a free man, and he finds himself living in transitional housing for former mental patients, undergoes extensive plastic surgery to get a new identity and finds himself slowly but surely being drawn back into the world he was once a part of. this twisted series is going to be one hell of a ride. another new series is Saga. Vaughan and Staples were introduced to applause, as publisher Eric Stephenson described their new ongoing comic book series as a futuristic science-fiction and fantasy series involving a war between two planets. it is going to be interesting to see what Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples does in Sega. he has done some remarkable work in the past such as y the last man to many other remarkable gems. he is amazing ass writer. he will do something boldly new and original. i am proud to really announce all this stuff cause it is boldly original.image comics is clearly going to make comics an exciting medium. DANSE MACABRE is another new series coming out in may. Alan Fisher lies about his past. He has to. But in DANCER, a new Image Comics series debuting in May, he must confront his past — in a form that has a very familiar face. Unwittingly pulled into the danger of Alan’s life, is Quinn, a ballerina. Quinn is used to the pain and discipline behind the graceful movement of her dancing, but how will she deal with a life on the run? And will Alan be able to keep them both safe from the most formidable opponent he has ever faced? Writer Nathan Edmondson (OLYMPUS, WHO IS JAKE ELLIS?) weaves a dark tale of intrigue and pursuit and artist Nic Klein (VIKING) creates a mood of foreboding as Alan and Quinn flee their pursuer through the heavily shadowed streets of Milan. this tale will invoke the feeling of those classic spy thrillers. DANGER CLUB #1 coming out soon too will be interesting for another reason. What if superheroes were real? And what if one day they all disappeared? In DANGER CLUB, a new Image Comics series by Landry Walker and Eric Jones, the fate of the world is in the hands of the allies that the heroes left behind — their teenage sidekicks. It’s up to the this rag-tag and fragmented group to battle the immense cosmic evil that threatens the world. But the fight could be over before it even starts if the sidekicks’ struggle for dominance destroys them from the inside. interesting idea in a nutshell.  LANDRY Q. WALKER and ERIC JONES  will do this new original series. Phonogram returns for another series.                                                           Phonogram: The Immaterial Girl Creators: Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Matt Wilson Format: Six-issue miniseries Release: 2012 Description: It’s primarily about the war between coven queen witch Emily Aster and the half of her personality she sold to whatever lies on the other side of the screen. It’s about identity, eighties music videos and further explorations of Phonogram’s core “Music = Magic” thesis. There is horror. There are jokes. There are emotions. There may even be a fight sequence. It also takes A-ha’s Take On Me with far too much seriousness – which, for us, is the correct amount of seriousness. a new series which is creator owned comes to print now known as Planetoid Creators: Ken Garing Format: Five-issue miniseries Release: June Description: Silas, an ex-soldier turned space pirate, finds himself stranded on a mysterious planet in alien territory. Crime and Terror Creators: Scott Morse, Steve Niles Format: Ongoing Release: 2012Description: Morse wrote on his blog, “It’s filled with episodes detailing the events in the life of a detective named Mike Fallon who’s going through some serious personal problems. On top of THAT, we’ll be smacking you upside the head with a bunch of short, stand-alone stories: noir, horror, sci-fi, whatever we want. All drawn by me, some written by me, some by Steve. On top of THAT, we’ll be throwing in new prose stories with spot-illos by me. Seriously, monthly is the plan, and every month, you’ll cry with glee as you scream your face off.”  this is another gem form Niles it seems. image comics keeps leading the charge more and more with each announced series form their panels and such. it seems image comics will continue to lead the charge of reworking old trends in comics.  The Manhattan Projects Creators: Jonathan Hickman, Nick Pitarra Format: Ongoing Release: March Description: From our interview with writer Jonathan Hickman: “The Manhattan Projects asks, what if the research and development department created to produce the first atomic bomb was a front for a series of other, more unusual, programs? It’s about smart guys being bad. The comic book pitch is: ‘The Thunderbolts of Science.’”. this is the follow up the Hickman series the red wing. it was a bold series that was a Hickman original. the ideas in it of time travel and such were highly original in the use of it for that series. read the red wing today if you have not already.  Secret Creators: Ryan Bodenheim, Jonathan Hickman Format: Ongoing Release: April Description: A man gets shot in London, a law firm gets broken into in Washington, an accountant gives away the password to his computer, and something put to sleep 20 years ago awakens. America’s Got Powers Creators: Bryan Hitch, Jonathan Ross Format: Unknown Release: April Description: Super powered individuals compete on a reality/game show for a spot on the world’s only superhero team.Think Tank Creators: Rahsan Ekedal, Matt Hawkins Format: Four-issue miniseries Release: July Description: Writer Matt Hawkins via iFanboy: “Think Tank is basically the story about who I might have been if I was a lot smarter and my life had taken a few different twists and turns. I always wanted to be a scientist. I love Physics and Geometry. Science is often maligned as boring, but is absolutely not. A pure researcher is one of the most creative people on the planet. Living in imagination and dreaming of how to change the world. They combine the best of right and left brain thinking and come up with things like Velcro, iPods, Reaper Drones and artificial sweeteners. The stuff these people play with on a day-to-day basis would both scare you senseless and endlessly fascinate you. I love it. I hope you love it. This story is a look inside the mind of one of these researchers who is a slacker genius. The best kind of oxymoron.  http://www.comicsalliance.com/2012/02/27/image-comics-expo-announcements-2012-morrison/   this is where i got info for most of stuff i wrote as series in this article those far.  along with the wiki and other sites. i am not a big writer yet i love highly original ideas so much.  they show growth and change in a medium that long been about heroes and villains. comics is art form of storytelling and art. image comics is reminding everyone that comics can be about more then just heroes and villains and such. originality is key to the vain of life for the future of comics. the medium will need to grow past the old ways of thinking to become bigger in our new era of reality TV. kids read less and less each year too which is crime as reading is the biggest key to learning as a whole.  i believe if anything should change that is comic books. the fact if the medium does not change and grow into these bold changes it may be a losing ground for everyone.  comic books can tell many tales beside heroes and villains. i have written many ideas which stand out form the normal path of comic storytelling. it is really amazing how you can tell something boldly different and yet the original at same time.  i believe 2012 will be the year of image comics. Indy comics will be leading the pack into changing the face of comics for years to come. comic book fans should change form reading heroic comics to these new original ideas more and more. it will make the older two realize that they need to change up their ideas.  i am not saying to stop reading what you love just consider an Indy comic too. they are made by people whom own it fully and doing what they love truly to their hearts. expression of the mind is key to me as a writer and should be key to everyone. this is vale wolffian creator of such works as timely inc and metaverse inc and echoes on planet 85. these original ideas are key to me as a writer. hope you see the insight into why originality is key to leading the charge for the future of the medium. so go into the future with new thinking about what you read truly. i feel truly image comics is a forerunner to lead the other Indy companies into saving comics for the future by changing the medium.  go into the night thinking about how comics will change in the next era
